Tachibana no Tamenaka (橘為仲)

TACHIBANA no Tamenaka (about 1014 - November 17, 1085) was a court noble and a waka poet in the late Heian period. He was one of Waka Rokuninto (Six Waka Poet Group) and was a brother of TACHIBANA no Yoshikiyo, who was also one of Waka Rokuninto.

Career
His father was TACHIBANA no Yoshimichi, then Chikuzen no kuni no kami (Governor of Chikuzen Province). His mother was a daughter of FUJIWARA no Moronao, then Shinano no kuni no kami (Governor of Shinano Province). He was a father of TACHIBANA no Yoshinaka.

After holding various posts such as goi no kurodo (the 5th keeper of imperial archives), Echigo no kuni no kami (Governor of Echigo Province) and Mutsu no kuni no kami (Governor of Mutsu Province), he finally promoted to Shoshiinoge (Senior Fourth Rank, Lower Grade) Taikotaigushiki (the grand empress dowager's household) and from such career, he is reckoned one of Zuryo (the head of provincial government) waka poets. He actively participated in Uta-kai (waka poets contest) in the era of FUJIWARA no Yorimichi.

Ten of his poets are compiled in Chokusen Wakashu (Imperial Anthology of Japanese Waka Poets) such as 'Goshui Wakashu' (Later Gleanings of Japanese Waka Poets). "TACHIBANA no Tamenaka Ason shu" (Tamenaka shu) is his anthology and "TACHIBANA no Tamenaka ki" (lost) is his diary.
